What is MemoryHole?

A personal web archiving service. Save web pages as they appear now, so you can access them later even if they're deleted or changed.

How is this different from bookmarking?

Bookmarks are links. If the page is deleted, paywalled, or changed, your bookmark breaks. MemoryHole saves the full page content, images, and formatting.

How much does it cost?

$33 per year.

Is there a free version?

No. "Free" services tend to sell people's data to the highest bidder. We'd rather charge a fair price, and be crystal clear about data privacy. If you belong to a group that would benefit from reduced-cost access (e.g. students and researchers), please email us at contact@memoryhole.app.

That's true, and it's a great business model. They use the free tier as a marketing funnel to convert users into customers.

We want to focus on building a great product for a small group of people that care deeply about web archiving and data privacy. Offering and maintaining a free tier would distract us from that goal.

What's your fair use policy?

Normal personal use is fine (archiving articles, research papers, blog posts, etc). If you're planning to archive huge amounts of content or scrape commercially, email us first at contact@memoryhole.app.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You keep access through the end of your billing period.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, if you're not completely satisfied within 30 days of your purchase, we'll refund your purchase with no hassle at all. Email support@memoryhole.app.

Features & Usage

What can I archive?

Most web pages: articles, blog posts, research papers, documentation, social media posts, etc.

How do I save a page?

Install the Chrome extension, click the icon on any page you want to archive.

Does the browser extension work on other browsers?

Chrome and Chromium-based browsers only (Brave, Edge, Arc). Firefox support is planned.

Can I search my archives?

Yes. Full-text search across everything you've saved.

Can I organize my archives?

Tagging and collections are in development. For now, search and filter by date.

Can I share my archives?

Not yet. All archives are private.

What happens if a page is paywalled or requires login?

The extension captures what your browser sees. So if you're logged in and can view it, it'll be captured.

Privacy & Data

Will you use my data to train AI models?

No.

How is my data stored?

Your data is encrypted and stored securely in the cloud.

Can I export my data?

Yes

What happens if I delete my account?

Everything is permanently deleted.

Technical

How does archiving work?

The extension captures entire page (HTML, CSS, images, fonts), takes a screenshot, and uploads to your archive.

What's the size limit per archive?

32MB per page.

Can I archive PDFs?

Yes. The text gets extracted, and it's searchable.

Does MemoryHole work offline?

No. Archives are stored in the cloud.

In the meanwhile, you could export your archives, and look at them locally. It's not convenient, but if you're running into the woods for a while, it might work well enough.

Can I use MemoryHole via RSS?

Yes. Add RSS feeds and new posts are automatically archived.
